Okay, before we get to the thick of things, it’s critical that we understand the different types of scratches that can affect tempered glass.

Scratches on tempered glass can be divided into two types: superficial scratches and deep scratches.

Superficial scratches are surface scratches and can be easily repaired in almost all cases. Deep scratches on the other hand… Well, they’re not something you want to see on your tempered glass. They are hard, stubborn and often difficult to remove. You can feel them with your fingernails.

When removing scratches from tempered glass, it’s important to note that only superficial scratches can be treated with DIY scratch repair methods. Deep scratches should be handled by a glass repair professional. Removing deep scratches with a DIY scratch repair method can cause further damage to the tempered glass.

If you’re unsure whether those scratches on your window pane, glass door or glass table top are superficial or deep, feel free to reach out to our Alberta glass repair experts; they will be happy to guide you.
